Scene 1:

What is not being emphasized is that Obama just kicked his own appointee to the curb for Bush’s appointee. Mind you, the same appointee that the Bush hate mob railed against a little over 2 years ago is now being greeted with a collective mum from the same wing. Some of the things that were said about Gen. Petraeus just a few years ago.

General Petraeus: A Supporter of Christian Nationalists?

General Is Front Man For Bush’s Iraq Plan

Here is then Senator Obama grilling Gen. Petraeus on costs and timetables. This is coming from someone who has changed the projected pull out how many times in the past two years?

A couple of memorable comments from Obama’s statement/question to the general.

“….we don’t have unlimited resources.”
“The question I think everyone is asking is ‘How long will this take? And at what point do we say ‘enough’?”

Here’s Sen. Harry Reid calling Petraeus a “liar”.

Scene 2:

It’s just amazing to me that the story of a White cop punching a young Black girl in the face (who supposedly was made the local Urban League chapter to later apologize for her behavior to the cop. My guess is that mom or grandma stepped in. Plus, you don’t apologize if you are innocent ) can get more currency in the blogosphere than the outrage of a widow in Houston.

Back in 2006, her husband, Officer Rodney Johnson was shot and killed while arresting a suspect. Here is a little bit about Officer Brown:

“During his 12 years with the Houston Police Department, Officer Johnson was honored for pulling a handicapped driver out of a flooded car, and for rescuing several people from a burning house.
Officer Johnson loved spending time with his family. In his downtime, he also loved cooking, lifting weights, and motorcycling. Officer Johnson also loved the Christmas holiday so much that he was affectionately called “Mr. Christmas” around town.”

The man who killed her husband was in this country illegally. Her take is that if we had a stronger immigration policy in this country she would still have her husband and her daughter would still have her father. She is especially upset because Pres. Obama has just picked former Houston police Chief Harold Hurtt to be his director for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Office of State and Local Coordination. The problem? Hurtt is critic of local immigration enforcement.

Scene 3:
Bank stocks soar on financial regulation agreement?

It is interesting to me that the banking industry makes huge profits over a bill that supposedly regulates them. The main reason why people invested so heavily in the banking industry over the past few years is because of the ability to generate profit BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY. A bill that supposedly places major limits to that ability should have the opposite effect. Makes you really wonder if the “I hate big banks” crowd know what they are cheering about. Apparently, even Chris Dodd isn’t sure of what the bill will do (and strangely enough, the Washington Post removed the quote after numerous websites picked it up).

“It’s a great moment. I’m proud to have been here. No one will know until this is actually in place how it works. But we believe we’ve done something that has been needed for a long time. It took a crisis to bring us to the point where we could actually get this job done.”
