The only people that are raising a pure hissy fit over the Alvin Greene saga in South Carolina are the political establishment in that state and the elite class who don’t even live there. The same people who helped elect Obama (Democrats) are now being clowned for nominating a person that does not meet the standards of the elite class outside of that state.
Anybody who has either worked with inmates as I have or at least familiar with someone who has been incarcerated know full well that having a command of the English language or a robust educational background isn’t commonplace amongst the this group. Yet for years Democrats have fought hard for the right of felons and the incarcerated to vote.
Rep. James Clyburn (D) of South Carolina may very well be on to something with his suspicion that perhaps Greene was funded by some political operative wanting to embarrass the party. But all the investigations in the world cannot erase the fact that it was the PEOPLE of that state that ultimately elected him (unless we discover later that ballots were stuffed or significant cross over voting).
To Democrats, people like Greene make good voters, (“clueless”, a “joke”, “retarded”, “embarrassment to the country”, “creepy, sick and weird”, “moron”, “embarrassing to black people” [all descriptors taken from this youtube page of Greene's recent interview with Keith Olbermann]), not good candidates. So in other words, be dumb enough to vote for whomever WE anoint.
This is exactly why all the gab over getting inmates, the poor, the undereducated to the voting booth has less to do with their right to vote and more to do with finding people dumb enough to pull the “right” lever. Because once they are showcased to the nation as in Greene’s case, many of the same “gabbers” are quick to point out just how much they are an embarrassment.
The ‘Poorly Spoken’ And Under-Educated Should Only Be Qualified To Vote, Not Run For Office
