Do you remember some years ago here in blogtown, USA when it was the thing to put a counter on your site to show spending in Iraq? Or how about the big debate over publishing pictures of soldiers in coffins as they were being unloaded off of military planes. What happened to all of that?
While I had my own issues with the anti-war movement, I really do feel sorry for them today because they were propped up to support an agenda (trash Bush). Now, they are nothing more than a fading memory. All those web geeks and armchair activists today latched on to their cause, enjoyed the one-night stand and have now moved on to more important things like checking the spelling on signs at Tea Party rallies and finding racism under every rock.
News was released today that since Obama has been in office, he has dropped over 3 trillion on the crap table in an effort to “rescue” the economy (I still have not found one person willing to step to the plate and explain to me how do you spend your way out of debt). Those that flashed their fake fiscal responsibility card on blogs when we were in Iraq have suddenly lost interest now that we are in the trillions. Same goes for the lives of soldiers. I guess soldiers dying in a senseless war under Obama just does not have the same ring as “soldiers dying in a senseless war under Bush“. And who is brave enough now to bring up the phony figure that erroneously showed that Black soldiers were being killed at a much higher rate in Iraq than White soldiers?
Why are grown folks now afraid to count?
I Guess These Web Counters Have Become Passé
