A friend of mine on Facebook this morning posted this on their page. This is how I first responded.
“Dangerous statement. God ‘ain’t’ some things as well.”
She asked me to explain and this is what I said.
Well….
-He’s not a “homeboy”
-He’s not a boyfriend or boo (ref. Keirra Sheard)
-He isn’t always on our side (I get the gist, but the problem is you have people in other faiths saying this as well. Heck, you have scrate up sinners saying this).
-Is God truly a “matchmaker”? If so, then why is the divorce rate so high…in the church???
You have some people who believe God is a woman.
I’m just saying that some of these pop redefinitions of God that clearly are not supported by scripture (the Bible) is ground for self-deception and ultimately grave disappointment.
Based on her response, I was putting God in some sort of box by suggesting that God isn’t everything we want Him to be.
If God is anything we want Him to be, then by definition He is one big contradiction. Because what YOU want Him to be may not be what I want Him to be.
But of course we all know this which is why most folks just fall back on “God is love”.
Just a thought.
