We are moving closer and closer to state-operated media these days. And of course much of the sheeple of the United States do not mind at all.

Influential Los Angeles Times columnist Rosa Brooks has hung up her journalistic hat and joined the Obama administration, but not before penning a public proposal calling for some radical ideas to help bail out the failing news industry.
Brooks, who has taken up a post as an adviser at the Pentagon, advocated upping “direct government support for public media” and creating licenses to govern news operations.
“Years of foolish policies have left us with a choice: We can bail out journalism, using tax dollars and granting licenses in ways that encourage robust and independent reporting and commentary, or we can watch, wringing our hands, as more and more top journalists are laid off,” she wrote in her parting column on April 9. (more…)
There is also talk about placing failing newspapers under a non-profit status where they would be unable to endorse a political candidate. Note to the clueless: There is not a such thing as “free money”.
In the meantime, networks like CNN are getting ready to celebrate cover Obama’s first 100 days.
“It’s going to have the energy and excitement of an election night,”
I’ve said many times in the past that I believed that the historic nature of Obama’s win would be a trojan horse for bigger government. Yes, Bush started the process. But Obama has put the whole thing into overdrive.
Obama no longer represents just the Democratic party. Now he represents government itself. To speak against government these days is to speak against America’s first Black President. The thousands of individuals who gathered recently to oppose how our government is spending away the future of our children was characterized as nothing more than a pout-fest against Obama by a bunch of right-wing White racists. Most moderates followed the path of least resistance and kept an arms length away from this protest by downplaying the whole thing. In the meantime, neither group acknowledged how Republican politicians who voted for higher taxes locally or supported the stimulus bill or the $410 billion omnibus bill were targeted as well. So you see, a protest against government spending was interpreted as a protest against just Obama (government–Obama, Obama–government).
With taxpayer money being proposed to bailout media outlets, we can be sure that diversity of thought regarding our government will be a thing of the past.
