Just thinking…

Both BP and government are to blame for the oil spill in the Gulf. I can certainly appreciate the serious concern my friends on the left may have for the long lasting environmental effects of this mess, but please tell the whole story.

A multi-billion dollar company doesn’t make it to that level simply by following the carefully crafted rules and regulations of government bureaucracies. At that level, you make your own rules and pay politicians to convince you that they “care”. Obama is on the top of the heap for receiving the most cash contributions to a politician in the last 20 years according to this article. Now Obama is performing a dog and pony show by sicking the Justice Department on BP.

On the other hand, I am willing to bet that this isn’t the first time BP has pushed it to the limit. You don’t relax regulations unless folks are not abiding by them in the first place.

BP must pay the price of how it pushed its drilling operations to the limit and its failings to stop the leak. But to suggest that government should have more control over the situation when they couldn’t even manage the control they had is just straight up dishonesty and the epitome of raw foolishness.

So yes, sue the pants off of BP. I agree. But I also propose a class action lawsuit by the people of the US (starting with the citizens in the Gulf region) against the US government for its failings. Drag every politician who directly or indirectly green lighted BP’s avoidance of set rules and regulations in front of CSPAN cameras and investigate them.

So to my “Big Corporations are Evil” crowd, please tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth regarding this terrible situation. You are making valid points, but tell the whole story.
