Bottom line: Just because a Black-themed show has been canceled does not mean there is some grand conspiracy behind the decision. The open secret very few ever want to deal with is that there are two types of individuals in the general media-consuming public: One that leans to activism anytime they believe media misrepresents them and one that only make their voices heard only through their viewership, readership or listenership. It is the latter group that has the loudest voice.
Yep, that’s right. Despite all of our online activist efforts to squash what we deem as “foolish”, Pookie and company are making their voices heard by Hollywood by regularly consuming the media group 1 so despises.
So the moral to this story? If we want to see shows like News & Notes to seriously compete against buffoonery, then online activism should focus on promoting programs we actually like instead of complaining about what we don’t like.
