In February of this year the AfricaWrites team traveled to Sudan to document African rituals and cultures north and south along the banks of the Nile river. This new update of the AfricaWrites site is dedicated to the mighty people of the Republic of Sudan and the “Legends of the Nile”. Our featured stories are, The Kings Blade, The Ropi, The Baranga, and the Chalak. I hope that you enjoy this website update and content.
AfricaWrites is an African NGO based in Kankan, Guinea, with the purpose of redefining African history and culture through proper observation, documentation and representation of African culture from local indigenous African perspective. To do this we set out several years ago to accurately research, record and preserve the sounds and images of ancient cultures of each and every African ethnic group. It is a massive undertaking. It is also my life’s work and legacy that will someday pass on to future generations. Through this work we hope that the descendants of those living today will know the richness and wealth of their collective cultures even if those same cultures are long gone or extinct.
Special thanks to the people and government of Sudan and all those who helped make this update possible.
