ATLANTA (Reuters) – The number of people in the United States from ethnic or racial minorities has risen to more than 100 million, or around one third of the population, according to a U.S. Census Bureau report on Thursday.
The minorities figure stood at 100.7 million, up from 98.3 million a year earlier. Within that, the Hispanic population was the fastest growing at a rate of 3.4 percent between July 2005 and July 2006.
Hispanics were also the largest minority group, accounting for 44.3 million people on July 1, 2006, or 14.8 percent of the overall U.S. population which, according to census data released in October 2006, stood at more than 300 million.
[...]
“About one in three U.S. residents is a minority,” said Census Bureau Director Louis Kincannon.
“There are more minorities in this country today than there were people in the United States in 1910. In fact, the minority population in the U.S. is larger than the total population of all but 11 countries (on the planet).”
The black population grew 1.3 percent in the year from July 2005 and reached 40.2 million in 2006, the census said, while the number of native Hawaiians and members of other Pacific islander groups reached 1 million.
Asians were the second fastest-growing minority group at a rate of 3.2 percent, with their numbers standing at 14.9 million.
The population of non-Hispanic whites who indicated no other race grew 0.3 percent during the one-year period. (more…)

I like you comments and opinions but this is untrue. America is a very racist country but America in it wildest dreams could not be as racist as some other countries out there, not even close. This is no exaggeration, I don’t know what countries you have traveled to but place I have been include Russia and China, I speak both Russian and Chinese, my Russian is ok but my Chinese is perfect, both of these countries make America look like the most accepting nation in the world. Trust me, I hear them when they don’t think I can hear and I would say on an average day walking down the street 95 percent of the Chinese have some negative about me being black (I’m black by the way) as far as Russia the number of Russian resturaunts I have not been able to get into and the number of people who have tried to fight me for no reason together is easily in the triple digits, no exaggeration! America is far from perfect but if you go to some of these other place you will miss home. I’m not going against what your saying but maybe you shouldn’t say the most racist country on the planet.

Andre,
You and I both agree on this issue (notice I put the word “racist” in quotes). This is what many people believe, but I am not one of them. The accounts I hear from many friends who have been to Asian countries (for example)as it relates to racism towards Blacks are far worse than the accounts here in the US. Like you said, the US is far from perfect, but we are a lot closer to it than most in this department.
How long did it take for you to learn Chinese and what in your opinion is the best way to learn it? I am asking this because it might be a necessity for me to learn it for business purposes (I don’t like hearing business being conducted in Chinese/Korean while I am in the room).

Your right about Amerika Andre, but Asia and Russia are racist openly.. and Amerika is just being sneaky , and i’m not talking about the people at the bottom, i’m talking about the people at the top!

I think USA is probably way over the top of the racist category but I don’t like the fact you are posting this crap. I got to admit, I like this website! The least racist country I’ve probably ever traveled to was Australia!

Heck, I wouldn’t generalise ALL Asian countries as racist. (That’s being racist itself.)

I have not met a racist Asian. Most Asians I met are intelligent.

Miguel said “I have not met a racist Asian.” Wow. The only things I can think is, or (1) you have never met an Asian, (2) you don’t speak their languages so you don’t know what they are saying. I happen to know many (East) Asians (i.e. Japanese, Koreans, Chinese). I have also been to Japan where my girlfriend and I were turned away from entering a restaurant where other people were eating and there were many open tables. East Asians, ON AVERAGE, are some of the most prejudiced against black people (I don’t know how they feel about others) folks on the planet.

OK, first i am a black man. The least racist nation that i have been to is Isreal, the second least is France, and the third least is Bosnia (Sarajevo.) The most racist was Crotia, and Italy.
P.S.
Most Asians that i have met have been racist. I strike that up to penis envy, however.

The Japanese are probably the most racist people on the planet. The Japanese are so racist that they pressure Korean and Chinese immigrants to change their names to sound more Japanese. Moreover if you ever watch anime you will notice that racist caricatures such as the nappy haired, coal black, big lipped black person are still common place. It’s funny how the Japanese never draw themselves as short with slanted eyes.I guess only sterotypes about other people are true.

You don’t know anything my friend.
In Denmark (Europe), danes call black people for “Sambo” or “Negere” (niggers).
In school books they call the black people for “negere” – that means niggers.
Chocolad balls field with white schoom they call for negerkys (nigger’s kiss).
Once, some years ago, an african politician (who was in official visit in Denmark, got broken his nose by danish policeman, who explanes afterwords that it was mistake and that he believed that african politician was a crack dealer…
Danes hates everyone excepts them selfs …
Seek people completely.
Stay away from Denmark if you still want to be happy and live normal life with a friends and family.
Better poor but happy than to have flat and car but veeeeeeery unhappy.

I found this site by accident while trying to get information on taxes.
This is a very sad site and I feel for the founder on the website and the ones writing the notes. I feel even sadder that your parents have given you such a low expectation on life.
I am a mother, an engineer, a foreign from South America (Hispanic) and a very proud naturalized citizen of the greatest nation on earth, the USA.
In my 22 years in this country I never once found injustices in the work place or anywhere in this country. Why? Because I was raised by parents that taught me the value of hard work, the value of being happy with who I and much more. I do not go around looking for injustices. I do not go around looking for problems or looking for people to like me or dislike me.
One of my best friend is black and the Dean of admissions at USC here in Southern California. My eleven years old son goes to an elite private school and one of his good friends is black. I do not go around telling my son to treat that child any different that his other classmates. My son’s dad is Caucasian and never once in 25 years heard him said anything bad about anyone regardless of the race.
If you want to waste your precious time looking for race type of injustices look a little deeper inside yourselves. Blacks are racist too. Read the book authored by Clarence Thomas (a great man). He was rejected by his fellows classmates throughout his life because he was “too black” or too “African” looking. How many blacks brag about Condoleezza Rice the first black Secretary States? How many blacks celebrate Colin Powel or Michael Steel?
Everyone has a level of prejudices on then whether is race, class etc. Mexicans are prejudices against their own people and other Hispanics. Asians only accept their own kind whether they are Japanese, Chinese or Korean. Jews people only accept their own kind. People from Indian are against different “class/Clan” within their own race. Muslims only accept other Muslims. There are the light skin blacks that discriminate against darker skin color blacks. There is the skinny people who discriminate against fat people and vise versa.
I can never understand why someone raised in the greatest country in the planet walks around with a chip on their shoulder. You are born here in the USA. You have won the lottery! This country has so many opportunities for you, your kids and your grandkids. Why wasted your time and energy putting yourselves down.
My kids are half Hispanic. I do not go around telling them that they are ½, 1/3 Hispanic. They are American! They are very lucky that they were born here in this country. Every morning on the way to school I tell them how smart they are and that they should always study hard no matter what so, that they can become doctors, lawyers, engineers or business persons. I tell them that their ultimate goal is for them to one day own their own business and be their own boss. I tell them that they have to work hard and try to do their best on what ever they do. I tell them that they do not need government help because they are capable of becoming successful themselves. I also tell them to be kind to everyone no matter what.
My last point people ….get over and stop whining and find ways to make yourselves happy and stop blaming everyone else for you lack of self esteem. Please, do not pass your problems, self esteem issues to your children or grandchildren. So, what if someone does not like you. Why not just ignore everyone and just do business among yourselves like the Jews and Asian people do. You do not need anyone permission for that. You do not need anyone for you to be successful and happy in this country. You don’t need the Caucasian, the Hispanics, the Jews or the Asian people to be successful and happy. At last you also do not need the government to help you be successful and happy. You only need you and no one else.

Wow, I am reading the comments posted by everyone and I would have to agree with all of them. To Marie, I agree with your comment
(Everyone has a level of prejudices on then whether is race, class etc. Mexicans are prejudices against their own people and other Hispanics.)
These racists and prejucices are in every race. I do find predudices in black american people the worst. I say for us it stems from slavery. I have seen good and bad of all races and for me racism stems from home. I have not travel to test which countries are the most racist but racism is in every country. Coming to the US most people can hide behind identy. I have been called a nigger on several occiasons and it will always strike a nerve, don’t much care how its used.
Two thumbs up for this site lets bring racism out in the open. Racism sells. Its have” against the have not’s.
The only way to stopped racism is start this world all over again.
We need to think about all the contribution of all races have made in building the US and other countries.

It never seems to amaze me how cowardly and wasteful humans can be. I myself have found believing stereotypes of certain races and hence using them up until I meet someone of that race and they change my mind. At that point I feel stupid because I realize I had been brainwashed all along. God made people to be different because otherwise our world would be boring, dull, and stagnant. Each race has beautiful and ugly physical features. Furthermore, it’s just our physical appearances that differentiate us from each other. We are all capable of becoming productive human beings if given the opportunity. I believe our reason for judging others based on their appearance is because we ourselves are insecure, ignorant, or afraid. Insecure individuals must find something or someone that they can compare themselves to to try and feel superior or better because in reality they suffer from an inferiority complex. Then there are those who judge based on race simply because they are ignorant. Those who are ignorant can be worth millions of dollars yet not know anything about the vast differences and complexities of our world. Those who are afraid prefer to judge people based on race because they feel threatened and prefer to roam within threir comfort zone boundaries for the rest of their lives. I must say I have socialized with people of many diffferent cultures, races, and naitonalities. We all have our own prejudices and preferences, however, it is unjust when we use these prejudices to judge others because as Descartes said, “the senses are deceiving”. Not everything we touch, smell, see, hear, or taste is as we think it is.

With all your respect but, I think that the comments made by Mr “12 Demelza38″ regarding my original “Marie” comments are not totally on the right track.
I strongly believe that talking about race issues is a misused of brain power and waste of emotions especially when it comes to this country, the USA. There is nothing to discuss about the issue unless you wish to continue on a path of self destruction.
Specially, if you are born or have been living in one of the greatest country in the planet for a while (the USA). As, I mentioned before if you were born in the USA you automatically won the lottery! Why ask why you won the lottery or reject the lottery just for the sake of feeling sorry for yourselves? Or why ask an opinion about winning the lottery or why do you care what people think if you win the lottery? Why being argumental if you just won the lottery? Just accept it and make the best of it.
Please, do not be insulted… I do not intend to do so.
I grew up in small town in South America where we have people from the Middle East, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Italy, Germany and few others places. Foreigns that immigrated to my country in South America after WW II and in recent years.
I remember very clearly that all during my childhood and teenager years I was living next to people/families that never spoke to the people of our country (the natives Hispanics) nor talk to each other because they each had some kind of prejudices against each other dated back to pre-WWII or because of their religion such as the Middle Eastern Muslims and/or the families of Jews heritage etc.
Later most of those families had children born in that country. The children and/or parents of those foreigns never even tried to say “Hello”, “good morning” or good evening while walking next to you. Sad, but truth.
Now, do I waste my time except for this moment to feel sorry for myself and/or try to justified the reason for my failures because the way some of those foreigns behave toward us the “natives”. No. No, in a million years. They were equally rude to themselves and to the other foreigns!
I look at the glass being half full. Most of those foreigns had more money than us because they worked hard, they worked long hours and they new how to do business among themselves!
So, what did I get out…? Something in my head always told me that one day I, will have all the material things that those foreigns had back in my little town. Today, I have all those things and more. For that I, thank them and my family.
I am mother and an Engineer. My first job in the USA as an Engineer was for a German own company in the South. In all my jobs I have been the only female professional engineer in a room of 10-20 men specially, when I worked in the South. Now, did I stop and think how terrible it was that I was the only professional women in the room? No! Waste of time and energy. If I did not like the situation I just quit. That simple.
Again, it is what ever you want to make out life. As I mentioned before blacks also have their own hang up about other people and themselves. It has nothing to do with slavery as Mr “12 Demelza38″ mentioned. Slavery happened 150 years ago! You never had to deal with slavery yourselves. No, if you are writing and reading a note in the internet right now then, for sure you had nothing to do with slavery. It is your parents, aunts and uncles the ones that put that on your head. Also, some of your liberals professors have hammer into your head that “yes” every body is against you because you are black, too thin or too small. Too fat or too pretty. But, for that I still blame your families for not teaching you the courage to say “No” you are wrong.
Again, again and again why I do not see the American Civil Rights leaders jump for joy about the great Clarence Thomas, Colin Power, Condoleeza Rice, Michael Steel and so on? Why?
I am not even black and I am having our third grader and six grader write a letter to Condolezza Rice before she leaves office. I have also read Clarence Thomas book to our third grader. I do not tell my kids that I want them to learn about the black culture and so forth. I just read them the books just like I would pick up a science book.
Right now we have a man who is half black and half white running for president. Do, I see him for being have half black or half white. No. I see him for his socialist views and his associations. The same views that I grew up with in my home country. Views that have been proven wrong time again and again. Views that are putting my home country in South America down the toilet. That is all I see. I do not see a black man nor is my American “caucasian” husband see a black man.
On the other hand put a Colin Powell in the same position and I will vote for him any day.
Let’s leave slavery behind on the 20th century. Don’t use that as an excuse as Mr. “12 Demelza38″ wrote on his note. Stop talking about that issue that ended so, long ago. Stop thinking of yourselves as the only victims. There are victims every where wether they are red, white or purple. Just, thank God that you are here today.
As I tell my children everyday. Don’t talk about what you are going to do. Show me what you did. Show me what you completed. Talk is cheap. People are always going to judge you because of how you look, how you dress, because of who you are or who you hang around with or what you do.
Sorry, for the long note and the lecture. I am going to sleep now.

Cries of racism constitute the last refuge of those who lack intestinal fortitude and vision. I agree with Marie in her assessment of life”s various issues. I am one black man who is thoroughly convinced that America is by far the greatest nation that has ever existed! I was born in 1946 so I was able to witness and personally experience some of the injustices that blacks have undergone in this country. Those former injustices have been severely muted and in many cases eliminated. Quite simply stated, blacks have no grounds to claim racism as a factor in their everyday lives! I wish that I had the power to teleport all of you race whiners back in time, I’d show you what real racism was all about because you don’t have a clue. There was a time when if I met a white person that was prejudiced,it was my problem. But nowadays if I meet a white person that is prejudiced, that is their problem! I would like for someone to tell me just exactly what it is that black don’t have that they can’t get in this society? There is a company called Target Market that tracks the spending habits of the black consumer,in 2002 they found that blacks spent 22.9 billion on clothes,3.2 billion on electronics,11.6 billion on furniture,46.7 billion on cars but only 303 million on literature which may constitute on indictment on black unwillingness to place a premium on education. We have all heard about the financial meltdown of Merrill Lynch, well the CEO of that company Mr. Stanley O’Neal, walked away with a severance package in the aggregate of 150 million dollars, when I look at the photo of Mr. O’Neal he sure looks like a black man to me! The U.S.census bureau reports that black businesses increased in number by 45% from 1997 to 2002. Statistical analysis shows that this was a rate of growth higher than all ethnic groups, whites included. That same analysis also revealed that black business revenue increased by a respectable 30% as compared to only 5% among comparable white owned businesses. Also in 2003 black earned income stood at 656 billion dollars. The argument has been put forth that if we blacks were placed in a country all by ourselves we would easily be classified as the 16th largest economy in the world which by the way means that we would displace Australia from that 16th slot. I would like to share with you words from the past…”There is a class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public.Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs-partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs….There is a certain class of race-problem solvers who don ‘t want the patient to get well, because as long as the diease holds out they have not only an easy means of making a living, but also an easy medium through which to make themselves prominent before the public” Booker T.Washington,1911.Sounds as if Mr Washington was familiar wiyh Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. And,no,America is not perfect. We still have people here who are prejudiced,we call them blacks,Mexicans, whites,Asians,Indians, etc.I have racist in my black family. The curious thing that I have noticed about people that are prejudiced they are always pointing the finger at someone else as being racist like what they feel is ok it’s the other guy he’s the one thats wrong. Or that they are justified in their racism because that one over there is racist. Black people can do whatever they want. Your enemy is your own low expectations of your ability to accomplish your goals.

Wow, a lot of verbiage posted here.
Marie, some of you points were good, but your posts are very confusing.
You clearly are a neo-conservative, as shown by you comments on Obama.
In British and live in England. Ive been a lot to the US. But you blinkered view that the US is perfect and being born there is like winning the lottery, made me gasp.
You cant even look after your poor there. You have no proper healthcare, if you cannot afford the insurance you die basically.
In England, we are a top performing capitalist economy. And we also believe that people have a right, wherever theu come from, to healthcare.
So we choose to do that. You americans alsways make the mistake of seeing it as socialism, but it isnt its the right and decent thing to do.
A country that is a trillion dollar economy (like the US and the UK), who chooses to let people who are poor and in many cases from ethnic minorities starve and not have access to medical help if you happen to be poor or disadvantaged is neither moral or decent.
For the poor in your country, its not “Winning the Lottery”, its choosing the short straw.
Trust me, in England we have LAWS against discrimination and racism. And we choose to spend our huge wealth on healthcare for all. Other great nations also do, like Sweden. THAT Marie, is winning the lottery.

Thank you “Mr. Cherokee” with all that information. I tried to look at some of the information on goggle… very valuable, thank you.
This is from Marie…the engineer, Hispanic, mother and proud naturalized citizen of the best country in the planet to “Mr. Ldopas”
Let me define poor for you in the USA…
I own a mid sized apartment building. In what we will call here in the USA a kind of disadvantage area in Los Angeles area….
In the building I have 3 families that are so call in welfare… They receive welfare benefits from the US government… I believe for the past 30 years… as newer owners the government pays us almost ALL the rent $1985/mo the US (the people, the tax payers) and $75/mo the tenant the welfare recipient pays.
These nice families that I have for sometime live in 3 to 4 bedroom apartments with 3 and 4 bathrooms each (1500 sqft to 1900 sqft townhouse style apartments). The families are in welfare because according to the US government they make below the poverty level here in the USA. Well, every time I inspect the apartments I have to pinch myself and shake my head…. why? Because those families have flat screen TV’s each with a value of 2 to 3 thousand dollars, they have computers, newer furniture and more. They have new cars and some of them use one of the bedrooms as a gym. A gym? Do you have enough room to have a gym in your “flat” or apartment Sir? We don’t. My husband and I don’t.
I, say that in the USA they treat the poor pretty good.
I, however went to college, took a second mortgaged in our home to buy the property a while back and work my butt to make sure that the building where my tenants live is always in excellent condition. Meanwhile, my husband a Caucasian and I a Hispanic drive cars that are eight and 12 years old each and barely make enough money to pay both mortgages and try to do our best to save enough money to send our kids to the best private school in the area so, their lives are better than ours. Basically, all we do is to try to make enough money to be able to give our kids the best education …. better than what my husband and I had.
Do I feel sorry for us? No. Actually, I am very proud of us if you knew where I came from originally … Do I feel bad about my tenants in welfare? No. So, you see Sir, even the poor here in the USA is wealthy in comparison to probably the poor in your country. I know that they are very wealthy in comparison to mine.
I still say that in the USA… they treat the poor pretty good regardless of the race.
Once in a while I wish if the government will take care of us and our children but, that sir will go against everything I believe and what we are trying to teach our children.
So, I still know that if you are born in his country you basically have stamped on your forehead.. “You, just won the lottery… now make the best out of your life…”
Sir, with all your respect I have never met an European black red or blue nor someone from a third world country like mine that have will say nice thing about the USA. I believe that is call jealousy or just plain being envious.
Somehow this country the USA still year after year managed to get nearly half a million people enter our borders and never leave … myself included. Not bad for a so call “racist country”. Some of those people even die trying to enter this country…
Last time I checked I don’t remember reading that thousands and even millions died year after year trying to enter England with hopes of never returning to their home land. You are still a small island? right?
And yes, sir I am a conservative but that came after having a very loving but very, very strict parents where whining was not an option. That there is right and there is wrong. That there is black and that there is white and I don’t mean color of the skin. There are not grey areas.
At last Obama is a socialist. I was born a raised in a socialist country. I know a socialist when I see it a mile away. Americans ran away from socialism 250 years ago when they came to the new world.
Read about Venezuela and see what socialism can do to a country under a leader with socialist views and believes.
I can go around in circles… I am getting dizzy with this topic. I am neither a journalist nor a professional writer. I am just a middle age retired engineer with two kids…that when she hears blacks or Hispanics or other so, call minorities or foreignness whine …it makes my blood boils. Now, if you have remarks, comments or information like “Mr. Cherokee” … I would love to read them, because as a good conservative I, run on facts not on emotions.
At last, racism to me is and always will be …an excuse….at the end of the day it is a completely waste of time and emotions. You do not need the “white man” to make you feel good or to make you successful…I know that in this country the great USA …all you need is you, your education and/or the desired to succeed.
One more thing… even after Mr. Colin Powel came out on support of Mr. Obama … we conservatives still love and respect Mr. Powell. I know that my husband and I wish if he, Mr. Powell himself run for higher office. We will be the first in line to elect him.

“This is from Marie…the engineer, Hispanic, mother and proud naturalized citizen of the best country in the planet to “Mr. Ldopas””
Define best?
You dont have a national health service, the poor die if they dont have insurance.
You have primary poverty, especially on the borders with mexico.
You have a large majority of people who still believe in an ancient god and think dinosaurs lived with man and the earth is one a coupla thousand years old.
Your knowledge of the world you live in is atrocious and generally ends at your coastline. Yet are happy to comment on how crap everyone else is and start illegal wars.
You have 50% women, yet have never elected a woman President for hundreds of years.
Ive been many times to the US, and lady I know it better than you it seems.
Come over to europe and learn a bit about the world. See europe for most americans is caricatured as needing the US and socialist. When it actually, certainly the west of europe is a number of massively wealthy progressive nations.
People dont die of ill health because they cant afford a doctor in my country, people know about the planet, there is no primary poverty in my country. Yet my country is a top 5 economy and continues to grow and prosper. (The UK).
You may be the most powerful and wealth (but then your country is massive), but the best. No.
As I said, come over, travel and learn. Not a natural thing for 90% of americans who prefer their view of the world dictated by South Park and Sesame Street I know.

“Last time I checked I don’t remember reading that thousands and even millions died year after year trying to enter England with hopes of never returning to their home land. You are still a small island? right?”
You are joking right?
This just shows the ignorance of the average american.
The UK has huge immigration problems. Primarily from Africa, Europe and Asia.
The reason. Because of our ecomony, welfare backup and freedom.
If you havent read the statistics, issues and scores of deaths on road, trains and primaril sea of people trying to get on these shores. Then that is down to your ignorance, not the facts.
The issue is so acute, that we and the Frnech now work together to try and stop people using the Channel and the Channel tunnel to get in.
I suggest you read a bit more and learn about these thing.
In the US case, you have Mexico below you. A very poor nation. no wonder they try to enter the US. And entry is by walking over a huge lande border. Easy.
People have to get over the Sea to get to us, and they do!
Why, because they want to be British.

Anyone who says the US is the most racist nation in the world is and uneducated fact ignoring moron. I’ve been to 40 countries and only ONE has the same look as the US (various ethnicities walking the street), and Obama has now beat a bunch of white men and one white woman to get nominated for President ,and another white guy to win. Are there idiot racists – absolutely, they are EVERYWHERE. But America is one of the LEAST racist countries in the world, and if you disagree, tell me how many other countries look and act how we do – from your personal experience. Signed, one very happy black (not African American) American.

To Me (interesting you wouldnt give at least an alias)!
I never said that the US was more racist than any other nation. It was your own US article here that said that.
However your point is idiotic (to be rude like you were). Youve been to 40 countries (which ones) and none look like the US with various ethnicities walking down the street).
That is because every country is different. Duh. BUT your country more than most of the others you’ve visited, is populated by a microcosm of the world.
When you beat down the Indians and put them in reservations, the country flooded with all sorts of people from everywhere. Including a lot of black people many brought shamefully as slaves.
So the population has a high content of different ethnicities. Its totally moronic (your word again), to compare this with other countries, like say Germany who have existed for centuries as a primarily white country with limited immigration.
To say that proves the US is less racist is ludicrous. Its only a short time span that black people were segregated and being lynched (that never happened in England, my country by the way).
Your comparison is like comparing a fish and a bicycle. Totally ludicrous.
And Im glad you can describe yourself as american first and african-american second. Thats good. But I note that you still had to point out your skin colour. I, for example, never sign myself a “happy white man”.
So obviously skin colour still has a significance for you.

“The most “racist” country on the planet is one of the most diverse–GO FIGURE!”
Well, not bad for being call the worst country in the world and the most racist in the world.
We just elected the next most powerful man in the world and he is half black with non-christian heritage (muslim dad and non-christian mother).
I never supported Mr. Obama because of his associations and his socialist speeches and beleives. Coming from a country that is going down the toilet in South America I run from any socialism ideas and believes. Socialism does not work.
However, I wish the next president of the United States Mr. Obama, his family and his administration the best and hope that what ever he does from this day forward is for the good of the country. The greatest country on the planet …the country that has been succesful for nearly 250 years.
At last, I hope that the “racist” factor is finally taking out of the table in schools, jobs and so forth with affirmative action. We do not need our taxes going to race base organizations.
Young and middle age black men. Get over this topic and tell you kids, nices and nephews what most people tell their children here in the USA: Study hard, go to school, graduate and you too can be president. You do not need Mr. Obama to tell you that and you do not need a president or politician as a role model. All you need is to work hard, study and believe in yourslef.

Marie, I’m guessing you’re from Venezuela. Do you realize before Chavez there was rampant inequality and classism, with the “fairer-skinned” Venezuelans controlling virtually all of the natural resources (oil) and doing business with the US, no “commoner” Venezuelan ever seeing the profits? That particular country is a strong example of how socialism, as you call it, help correct an imperial wrong! No wonder Bush and other neocons felt compelled to overthrow the poor guy.

most argentines have italian, spaniard or german blood.

Regarding “me”…
It is unconfortable but you are correct regarding Argentina. As a native South American… I used to love the people of Argentina because they looked and sound sophisticated with their accent…just as some people in the USA are facinated with the British accent.
I visited Argentina 7 years ago and completly changed my mind about it. I was there for two weeks and could not believe that they actually have a monument of a general that was sent to kill/exterminate all the natives in that country back during the colonial days. Totally different as the Americans and the American Indians. The statue sits on the middle of one of the main plaza in Buenos Aires. Argentines talk about that general as great person to explain the why they are not “brown” people on that country (Argentina).
The Argentines that I spoked to … do not sound sorry or bad for that fact. Also, whithin few seconds of meeting an Argentine he/she waste no time to tell you that they are either Italian, German or Spaniards… they want to make sure that you do not mistake them for “hispanics”. They will volunteer that information almost immediately without being asked so, that you know that they are European.
The few Argentines that I met here in the USA act the same way but, they show their ignorance because they do not realized that in the USA you are an “X” in a middle of 300,000,000 X’s. So, because of the fact that you think that you are European or “white” skin person…most regular americans…automatically are no going to like you or respect you. Even after years of living in the USA they the Argentines fail to understand that you have to earn that right and is not by the color of your skin or heritage.
With all that… Buenos Aires is a beautiful city. I believe is also refered as the Paris of South America.

To Mr. Kluss
Who are you and why are you so hateful about the world or the USA? Can I buy you a one way ticket to Venezuela… so, that you end up down the side of the road as some of Chavez opposition leaders? What is your favor color? Red? because if you are one of the 60%+ percent of the population working for the government you will be force to wear a red shirt, a red hat to work and will be required to put your hsnd/closed fist in the air when saying “Viva el Socialismo” or “Viva Chavez!” Oppose the government and you will lose your job and/or get a bullet in your head.
To the founders of this web site:
My apologies to the founder(s) of this site with all my heart. As I mentioned originally…I got into this site by accident while looking for some kind of tax table information. When I read about the attacks on the USA regarding racism…I acted the same way as the few comments that I saw… I acted angry and starting attacking the same way…
After a while I got into the heart of this web site and links when I realized that the majority of the people (gentleman) in this site sound and write just like I do (much better writers of course). When you visit some of the other chats on this web sites the gentleman sound very responsible, educated, smart, sincere, conservative (without known political affiliation)and with the same concerns for the black population as I have with regards to the “Hispanic” population in this country… the great USA.
I actually feel like an idiot for reacting and not reading more into the web site. Just a few sour grapes or apples in this particular chat sounded as if they like to play victims …but most everyone else sound and write very reasonable and understand that whining is not the solution to all problems. We have to take responsibility for our own actions. We have to fix our own problems within ourselves and/or own communities before we go and blames others…actually there is no reason to blame anyone but ourselves whether we fail or we win.
If we can all remember that we are all here in the USA as Americans and not red, purple or blue … rich or poor people we then, can achieve wonders as proud and able Americans!
keep up with the real facts and keep the fiction and emotional issues out…
Thank you for allowing me to write on your site.

Typical reaction to minorities TODAY is Rwanda, Bosnia, Indonesia, Kashmir, Sudan is to CHOP UP the minority with a machete. God, sometimes u people r SO STUPID!

I just finished reading the provocative article and the argumentative responses here.
Here are my general responses to all
Re Duane, your article is a bit harsh. America is a very open minded place and probably the best developed nation in the world to be black. We have a black president, black CEOs, the richest woman in America is black, so is Hollywood’s best paid actor. Our Attorney General is black and for the past eight years we have had black secretaries of state. And that is not taking into consideration the many Hispanics and other races represented in our government.
Re ldopas: As a black American living in the UK, I found the your comments typical of the denialist Brit who actually thinks their “National Health Scheme” and psuedo-diversity initiatives actually work. In total, the UK has a less than 9% ethnic minority population. Yet between 40% and 65% of its prisons are populated by people of black and ethnic minority origin. Police, military and other government forces are, notoriously, “whites only” and your government has openly racist parties like the BNP and SNP who receive surprisingly high levels of support considering your country’s “liberal” branding. The NHS provides Europe’s poorest levels of health care (except, to be fair, for maternity care in which it is actually one of the best in Europe). Public health and state education outcomes in “Broken Britain” are today much worse than in the US – yet health and education in the UK cost exponentially more per head than the US system. Rather than trying to tackle these problems, you Brits are busy painting the “we’re better than you” picture for the world. Its high time you guys checked yourselves and realized that your sh*t stinks too!
Marie: Wow. You need to become a full time commentator on this site. Your comments are insightful – and I appreciate the fact that you were respectful enough to acknowledge that having a different view to you doesn’t mean that others are wrong. As much as I like various extracts of Latin culture (mostly the music and food native to some countries), I am wary of Latin American societies’ ethnocentric and intolerant tendencies. The fact that you have left that background behind and today teach your kids the values of racial, religious and gender equality are remarkable. On your other points, I also agree that as blacks we should celebrate conservative black leaders as well and not punish them for their political choices. Afterall, what’s the point of having the vote if we can only vote for one party?!
Re Dumb Liberals, lmao. I actually agree with you man (or woman). White America has somewhat redeemed itself with the Obama election. Across the world, what other majority group has done so much to criticize its own perceived superiority? I have to admit that for every 1 racist white American I’ve met, there have been 5 more who would judge others on their character rather than their race.
Keep the comments coming, I’m loving this discussion.
Immigrant in Sweden
March 8th, 2009 at 9:58 am
I lived in several European countries and that gave me a good knowledge that makes me able to compare racism and discrimination in these countries.
Unfortunately I have never been to US. Anyway I can say that Sweden is the most racist and cynical European country. A humane country on the books given the numbers of refugees Sweden has taken in but one has to consider the interests behind any Swedish action for what Sweden gives with one hand it takes away with the other. They do not let refugees in because they are generous and nice guys.
Swedes are unable to accept others “as equal”. Swedes are xenophobes who are completely convinced that their country is the best in the world.
Sweden is a country of racism and intolerance.
Swedes boast about giving free courses in Swedish to all immigrants when in reality they make people attend no ending courses (terrible didatics and pedagogy) to let them out of the job market. It´s a trap.
Swedes boast about their excellent health care system but they do not say that when their health care system fails it is usually with immigrants.
Some will say that Sweden has been pretty homogenous and that immigrants and other minorities are a recent phenomenon but it is not true. What about the assimilationist policies that Sami people and Finns have been suffering for more than one century?
The Swedish judicial system is openly rasistic with 95% ethnic Swedes as judges and lawyers. Swedish policemen are 99% ethnic Swedes and they discriminate and persecute immigrants.
Coming back to Sweden from UK I was stricken by a photo of an immigrant with an arabic name saying “Welcome to my city Stockholm”. How ridiculous! They need photos! In UK when you arrive at the airport you can see many immigrants or people with immigrant descent working in the airport, all kinds of people with strong foreign accents, women with muslim scarfs, sikhs with turbans working as immigration officers. In Sweden they use “photos” of immigrants because they have no immigrants working in the airport. Oh…sorry, I forgot. Of course they have immigrants at the airport, immigrant engineers and doctors that are unable to find a job in racist Sweden can at least drive taxis.
Sweden boasts about giving financial aid to refugees but what Swedes do is to give refugees a miserable income to live in segregated areas where there is nothing to do. These poor people are constantly humiliated by social service workers and suffer from depression.
Swedes have an exceptional intrinsic skill of ostracizing and alienating their immigrants, making them pariahs.
Swedes make them feel unworthy and guilty even though all they want is a job.
Swedish media has made it a rule to associate immigrants with problems.
Swedes would say “The segregation in Sweden is not unique.”
No, it is not but it is the most cynical!
Swedes smile at you and stab you in the back.
And it is an illusion to think that Western Europeans are not discriminated in Sweden. The only criterium to be discriminated in Sweden is to be a “non Swede”! If you are not one of them “you are nothing”.
Even if you speak good Swedish (bra svenska) you have no chance in the racist job market. Swedes think they are superior and it doesn´t matter if you have education, skills or experience if these were gained outside Sweden.
Even if you are a second, third generation of immigrant descent, Swedes will never consider you Swedish.
Other Swedes will say: “You are most welcome to come and study in Sweden. We are one of the few nations that has no fee for foreign students who comes here to study.”
But Sweden needs qualified personal so it is just a question of interests. The irony is that these foreing students after graduating go on unemployed because of Swedish employers´ racism and discrimination.
In line with this it is not so strange that onward migration to a third country has grown popular not just among foreign students and workers residents in Sweden but also among those with immigrant descent that were born and raised in Sweden.
Sweden is the most racist country in Europe. The Swedish race purity department was only shut down in 1976. Sweden had important connections with nazists that placed their money in Swedish banks.
Sweden is the country of double moral, saying one thing, doing another thing.
Besides, as Swedes themselves say ” Sweden is boring, cold and dark”, that is why they drink so much and behave like pigs. A very very depressing place.
I know a lot of Swedes trying to escape from misery emigrated to US in the past. Were they treated the same way they treat immigrants nowadays?

They’re protecting their culture. They wish for the same percentage of people in their country to speak Swedish as their primary language 100 years from now, or 1,000 years from now. They do not want the customs to change greatly, or the types of religion to shift wildly in one direction.
Yes, there’s some racism in Sweden. Like any country. But that’s not the main drive behind the rules. Please do not confuse racism with “cultural protectionism”.

Hi Mike,
I suggest you to read “Oonskade i folkhemmet: Rashrygien och sterilisering i Sverige.”
If it is not enough I can indicate other litterature in Swedish, English or French.
You can also look for the theme in the database: http://www.uppsatser.se/
Just give some alcohol or start a fight with a Swede and you will listen the most racist nazist commentaries you could ever imagine. That is when they speak frankly (when they are drunk). Don´t try to deny what is obvious! It is RACISM!

To be born in the USA is like winning the lottery?
I can’t believe it…
…’cause it’s not true -PERIOD.
I’m a white american, I love my own country, but I’m realistic too. No place in the entire world deserves such worship phrases. Seem almost blindly religious or st!
(In fact, you Marie sound like a poor immigrant that has idealized this country ’cause you’re not starving now)

Eh,I think people are confusing racism and discrimination a little bit. In America, at least, a lot of people are racist but don’t discriminate, or are overly nice to thier bigoted race. That’s because racism is hardly tolerated in the US. (Well, in the western areas a level of intolerance towards hispanics is somewhat tolerated among the majority whilst a level of dislike towards blacks is somewhat accepted in the southhern white communities and vica-versa.) But even still, open racism is regarded, (generally,) as wrong in the US. So people feel really bad for being racist and make up for it by being overly nice. I guess my point is that a countries fruits or a countries overt bigotry is not neccassarily a good indicator of it’s prejiduces.

Us aint EVEN CLOSE to being the “most racist” country. Not even close. Climb out of the box in which you live, travel a little, and you will see that not only is every country racist, but some in east asia are far more racist than the US.
But seriously man, there are no “unracist” countries. Why do people think this? Canada is possibly the least racist.

why the ***** do people need to worry about race??? what disgusts me the most is russia. A country that lost millions defeating the Nazi’s now has the biggest neo nazi regime in the world. in a population of 145 million people approximately 1/20 are neo nazi’s and are active in hate related crime. They have this logic that killing foreigners would restore russia’s power…well guess what it wont it will only collapse your economy and ruin your defenses against actual invaders lmao.

i cannot tell you that usa is the most racist, but i can tell you some things about america that you may or may not know. america regularly does immigration raids to arrest mexicans and kick them out. they are the only country i know of that will scan your eyes and take your finger prints when entering. they host all of the racist websites i have ever encountered. most of these websites are also run by americans. while europe has banned a lot of racist websites, this is perfectly legal in the usa. in fact, racism is seen as freedom of speech in america, but is an offence in many european countries. the kkk is allowed to have parades in main streets of america. i have talked to shop owners in america who are afraid of telling people they are muslim because they will get beat up. you have mexicans pretending to be italians because they are afraid to admit what they actually are. then you have italians changing their name to british to sound american. you have vigilante groups like the minute men who go to the mexican border to shoot mexicans for fun. i do not know what the relevance of the title is to the story because south africa was diverse, yet it was one of the most racist countries. saudi arabia is also diverse, yet racist. most latin american countries are diverse with natives, spanish, and africans living side by side, but are racist. another thing with diversity is, america takes in mostly right wing immigrants like marie who have predispositions to uphold the status quo, so it doesnt matter how diverse america becomes, because at the end of the day, america picks and chooses its immigrants. america has a very sly and cunning way of choosing its immigrants. they take people from “enemy countries”, like venezuela, cuba, russia, and china. theres a catch though. in order for you to enter, you have to be able to speak badly about your original country. what better propaganda than to have someone of your own country to speak badly about you. this helps the u.s. position when they want to criticise venezuela. they can easily take marie out at political ammunition and say, here’s one of your own citizens speaking poorly about your country, you have got to be a horrible country. i believe the more diverse america becomes, the more agresive the white americans will become and the more likely they will be to join groups like the bnp.

America is the most country racist hands down because America was founded on racism. European people came to the new world and basically exterminated the native population and enslaved hundreds of thousands of West Africans treating them like sub-human property. The remaining native population were forced onto tiny reservations where they have disproportionately high diabetes, alcoholism and suicide rates. Then those same White folks exploited Chinese men for their labor and told them that they weren’t welcome in the country anymore (Chinese Exclusion Acts). Today, Central American immigrants are the new slaves being exploited for their cheap labor. Nowadays, we demonize those of Middle Eastern decent and the entire Muslim world because of 9/11. Black people have come to represent the permanent underclass of American society. Blacks are much more likely to be poor, murdered, imprisoned and be diagnosed with HIV & AIDS than Whites. To this day, racial stratification and segregation in America is extremely intense. Here in the states, most communities are extremely segregated and ethnically homogenous. Although Black, Hispanic and Asian people helped build this country, they are still treated as inferior in a predominantly White society. People make everything a race issue, even if race is not a factor at all. Unlike many European and Latin American nations, biracial people make up a very small percentage of the US population. Being mixed-looking or “racially ambiguous” in America makes people feel uncomfortable because for some reason everyone must be visibly classifiable in our shitty society. I know because I am a mixed American person. I am a walking breathing magnet for racist American ignorance and beligerence.
Yes, Japan and Korea maybe racist, but those countries never based their entire societies upon shamelessly exploiting entire groups of people with different physical features like America has and does.

How sad that one can spend their life thinking of reasons to “be hated” and not enough time of looking at opportunities.
Can someone explain how someone has to be constantly measure themselves up against “white man” or Caucasians? Constantly looking for reasons why Caucasians like them or not? It sounds like some parents did not do a good job on making sure that you grow up to be a successful confident and secure adult.
Also, how terrible is a country that had at least in 2007 nearly 2 million (*) people entering legally (* need to verify number)? I believe counting the people entering illegally plus another high number of people overstaying their visas tourist, students, business people and so forth… I believe that with that kind of influx of people into any particular nation does not qualify that nation for the title of the most racist country in the world. Actually any nation allowing that many people into their soil should qualify as a tolerant nation and not a racist nation.
Before you label the USA or Americans “the racist” look at yourselves in the mirror. For the person mentioning about the Mexican raids. Should you ask first why almost 10% of the population of Mexico is here in the USA? Many of them illegally. Why not ask… why the Mexican government is not taking care of their citizens. Why are the Mexican citizens no taking control of their government?
As a new American (10+ years) why should I be ok for my family to pay for citizens of another country with just a first grade level of education? Is that racist? I do not think so.
Are you really going to accept just anyone into your lives or are you going to be selective of your friends. Think about America or the USA as your own home.
For the person mentioned that some “some people are afraid to tell people that they are Muslims…” really… what people are you referring? What newspaper or TV are you watching because I feel that telling someone that you are Christian, believe in God and love America are phrases that are being under attack here in the USA. Also, if you are Muslim what do you think that would happen to you if you are an American Jew or American Christian in Iran…a Muslim country… do you think that the people of Iran will be tolerant toward a Christian and/or Jews person from America or would they get parts of their body cut off or in prison? Ask the latest person a lady of Japanese/Iranian roots that was let go free last month.
Also, “Mexicans are telling people that they are Italian…” What??? I almost fail out my chair laughing about that one…
By the way. I was not poor. My father was a judge and my mother a politician. At 11 years old I realized that there was something wrong with my old country (politics, government, corruption).
Sadly I was proven right almost 10 years ago.
I wish if the person that said that USA is taking people from “right wing” countries like Venezuela and Cuba was correct. Most Venezuelans have at least a high school education. Many have college educations. Most Cubans hate their government and quickly want to be part of the American dream. Sadly you have a better chance entering here illegally from Mexico that if you are educated citizen from any other country. It is what it is and has nothing to do with racism…
Look at yourselves in the mirror before you comment on any racial issues about the USA. Also, do not confuse “racist issues” with “socio-economic” issues. Canada is a perfect example …someone mentioned that “Canada is the least racist…” I have never been to Canada but I read some of their news.
Canada, welcomes all foreigns with open doors BUT they most have money and/or higher education. Is Canada a better country because they specify that they do not want poor and/or uneducated people of any color or race? Should Canada be considered “racist” and bad because they do not want poor and/or uneducated people?

Most people really don’t know about racism until they have traveled and lived in many countries as I have. As an African American, I have traveled and lived in many countries when I was in the U.S. Navy. I have been to Asian, Latin and European countries.
I can tell you without a doubt that black people are the most hated people on earth. Until you have traveled the world as a black man and experienced the hatred and ostracization just because of your race and skin color you won’t have a clue on who terrible it feels.
Some places like Puerto rico that you think would not be racist because of their racial mix are the most racist. A lot of Puerto ricans not all but a lot, particularly fair skinned Puerto ricans are very, very proud of their Spanish heritage and some times Taino heritage, but not at all and I mean not all proud of their African heritage.
I wish all racism of all kinds would just end. Maybe my children’s children will see this day.

You’re right! This country is the MOST RACISTS Country on the PLANET! I know I experience RACISM towards me EVERY DAY! No matter where I go, I am accused of belonging to some “HATE GROUP”. If I have an opinion that is different or am defending my traditions, “I AM THE RACIST”!
EVERYDAY!, I see oppurtunities open for other races besides mine. Incentives for “OTHER” races besides mine that are offered not in secret but blatantly out in the open in front of me. On Television, I’m always portrayed as “DUMB” and “Out of Touch” with reality or attached to some unearthly “EVIL”.
While, I have to bust my @ss to get a “FAIR” shot at advancement, “others” are being considered above me because of the color of their SKIN not their qualifications.
Does that sound FAIR? No it doesn’t. It’s wrong.

I’m a South African white male, 23 years old, therefore 8 years old when Apartheid fell. My upbringing was filled with cherished moments under the care of our black female domestic servant who cared and loved me as if I were her own. Her own son (my age) was taken under the care of my parents after she died of AIDS and he received white schooling. (Apartheid loophole: My parents were also French nationals)
From our viewpoint, the US is so stuck up on a racism agenda that it creates division that is not necessarily there. I’ve met both fierce black and white racists that embody the word racist in a country that still to this day is separated by racial divisions. You all ought to be ashamed of yourselves, the sooner we forget the word racism the sooner we will move on. By harping on about it all that happens is its encouragement.
Take the guy above me. I know what he feels. I’m white in a land that cares very little for our plight, where whites are murdered daily by blacks under the guise of poverty and Apartheid. A white guy kills a black while he’s trying to hijack his wife and it’s racist and front page news. Hey I’m all for redistribution but there’s got to be a point where it stops before it too stops being good and becomes essentially racist itself.
As I watch my white folk here get discouraged by being a perpetual race target for crime and hate, not to mention bedevilled by whites worldwide for advantages of Apartheid that they never saw, yet alone voted for. My parents were French and denied the vote, yet when the banner fell we were all treated like the typical and common white scum.
Most of you all now still bereave basic civil rights issues that really seem trivial when compared to true race hate in other parts of the world. Asians are racist? Please – take a long hard look in the mirror.

Come on dude, I think by now, everybody knows Russia is thriving to be the most racist nation on earth and they are not happy about it because they are not been given much attention by the media. So they keep on desperately trying to surpass their old score with more impetus every other year. And what about the Indians threatening the darker skins as inferiors (the so called Caste system thing).
Finally, it is imperative to not whimp on the fact that Negros are no doubt the most hated and likely target for racism out of the African Continent. I personally, based in Moscow, frm Africa, made it my self protection duty to always go out with a jack knife behind my jeans pocket just in case I get clamped by them Skin heads. And God help me before I get crushed unjustifiedly – my knife been honored with the blood of anyone trying to physically abuse me cause of my skin color. And the Lord know I never regret my person.
After thinking long and hard over this matter, I came to the folowing conclusion: Something is conspicously wrong with this world, what with the Racism: hatred for fellow beings cause of their skin color… and unless you are at the recieving end of it all, you will never truly grasp the full banality of the act.

Nobody
I just came by, and read your comment. As a Dane, I have to correct you a bit about your comment – though very old, still very incorrect.
“In Denmark (Europe), danes call black people for “Sambo” or “Negere” (niggers).”
“Sambo” isn’t a colloquial word when talking about black people – on the contrary. It stems from a children’s book called “Lille sorte Sambo” (actually a translation of a the book The Story of Little Black Sambo by a Scottish author) about a little black boy called Sambo.
“Neger(e)” has been used for centuries. It derives from the Latin word “niger” meaning black (the colour). It has never had the same connotation
In school books they call the black people for “negere” – that means niggers.
“Neger(e)” does not have the same connotation like niggers. Like described above it basically means “black(s)”, and is therefore not meant to be derogatory. At least, when I went to school in the 80s noone raised an eyebrow when talking about “negere”. But due to it’s close similarity to the English word nigger, people have started to consider it derogatory, even though it wasn’t from the very beginning.
Chocolad balls field with white schoom they call for negerkys (nigger’s kiss).
No, again a “black (man)’s kiss”.
“Danes hates everyone excepts them selfs …”
Nonsense, I know lots of examples of Danish people, including myself who don’t hate everyone (I assume by “everyone” you mean foreigners)
“Stay away from Denmark if you still want to be happy and live normal life with a friends and family.”
Again nonsense! Then I wonder why I’ve met so many foreigners who are glad of visiting Denmark.

There’s racism everywhere. If someone says something racist as a joke then it’s not that bad, of course some people might be offended, but seriously it’s just a joke, that’s racism but it’s not serious racism. Then there’s serious racism which is what is destroying a lot of people and places. Sad world.

I don’t know whether I agree with everyone that posted a comment here. I’m sure I probably don’t on some aspect or another, but that is really not my concern since I have never had a racial issue, for any reason. I do feel that anyone should be aloud to make a good life for themselves, and take advantage of all that it offers, but I also proudly believe that it should never be at the cost, inconvenience, or pain of another’s freedom to make their life as full and enjoyable as they can achieve. That would include anyone that thinks that everyone else owes them something, by living off of welfare, food stamps. Overburdening our medical systems, among many other Government self help systems, when they won’t work because of immoral values, laziness, or being here illegally. As the rest of us that actually contribute something to the advancement of our species, have too big of a conscience, or moral value scale, could never, and if like me, have never just said, well, the heck with everyone else, and them pay my way. I will say that I’m getting tired of paying their way, though. I have six kids, three boys and three girls. I payed for them, raised them, and changed their schools from time to time through the years, when I found out that the schools were practicing the, don’t get left behind form of education, which according to current government polling taken as of last year, shows we are graduating more and more, illiterate, having no basic math skills, having no knowledge of any science or art, will be mostly a burden to society as a whole, and will probably contribute nothing to their race, or anyone else’s. I voted for Obama, but like the education reform that hasn’t shown any results so far, health care, illegal immigration, cash for clunkers, bailouts, terrorism, war issues, foreign relations, etc., have also shown no relevant progress. There is plenty of talk around the world about doing better, but no foreign governments have taken any actions, only talk, the same talk that I have heard for 30 years that I have participated in, and witnessed our government processes at work. As of today if I had to vote again. I would vote with the other 92% of Americans, also taken as of last week by presidential polling, showing that, we don’t think that he has completed even one campaign promise to date. As far as his Nobel Peace Prize, well I think Obama is a man of good character, and he is trying to do the right things. That is good, he is doing his job, that is what he got hired to do. I will also say though, that he has done nothing, according to Mr. Nobel’s will, which indicates exactly when, and why his Peace Prize should be awarded. Take Ronald Reagan for instance. He got his award for freeing millions of Germans when negotiations resulted in the Berlin wall coming down, and for reducing the worlds nuclear arsenal by 1/2. It wasn’t talk, but completed achievements. If Reagan had only talked about getting it done, but it never happening, he would not have been awarded the Peace Prize, according to the criteria of Mr. Nobel’s Award. Completed task, not intentions, are only awarded. I think we all intended to have flying cars by now too. Maybe we should give George Jetson a Nobel Science achievement award next year. LOL. I don’t think anyone can debate, or show that Obama has done anything on that caliber of accomplishment, to even warrant a nomination, much less merit winning the award, and in being nominated in only weeks after he had taken office, when he hadn’t even purchased his dog yet, stopped any wars, stopped any foreign countries, such as Africa, which is still trading in slavery, and violating even today, their own citizens human rights, brokered any peaceful relations between any foreign countries, or addressed anything other than what he says he will do. I hope he does do good, and pretty soon. I really don’t want him to go down in history as one of our biggest mistakes, or be known, at the bottom of the Nobel Peace Prize list as one that did the least to get it , or never really deserved it at all. Anyway, the whole world is racist, if they feel that any other people are causing them to feel insecure about their life, whether it be simply others having different ideas, habits, looks, or personal values, and I don’t think those issues will ever totally go away, anywhere in the world. After all, we are only human, and like I always say. English decent can’t play basketball, or win a boxing match, African decent can’t drive, or shut up in a movie theater, and Latin decent can’t seem to learn how to flush the toilet paper, or stop farting in public. I just crack myself up, LOL.

Electricguru great comments.
Regarding the comment by Saytoodles…being critical of comments “foreign countries, such as Africa…” Obviously when you read Electricguru’ comments you know that he has been reading and listening to the news for the last 30 years. I am sure that he did not mean Africa the country because of course there is not a country of Africa…but instead he meant Africa the continent which is even worst.
The truth about Africa is even worse than just your silly comment Mr. Saytooth regarding the country vs. the continent of Africa smart remark. The continent of Africa today is on the same social and economic disaster as it was 30, 50 and 100 years ago. The corruption all over Africa… the in- fighting, the poverty and so, forth still as bad today as it was 30 years ago. No amount of money or intervention from Obama will ever solve Africa’s problem.
Obama was the typical democrat politician. He ran for President with a middle of the road platform and is governing with the left agenda platform. If we knew now what Obama’s was really about, what he was going to do including his real associations… and have the media had done their job correctly… he will not have been elected President of the United States of America today.
Unfortunately for blacks the media will dress his left agenda failures as rejection of his so called “race” but the truth is that his lefty’s Marxist agenda is what will destroy his presidency.
People should always remember that Obama is half white. Unfortunately for him his half wife part is what most of us on the right reject… the part where his mother and maternal grandparents were Marxist sympathizers.

Well…i am 32 yrs old Caucasian Female (Origin Istanbul).
I used to live in NYC ,also i have been in New Orleans,L.A. NJ,CT,GA,PA, etc. I didn’t see anything against to Black people in U.S. but that doesn’t mean there are no racist people!
Some don’t say or don’t act directly against to their face but i know there were many racist people with the experiences of my friends.
Still many cities in U.S. are much better than EU of not being racist.
Come on..they are American as well!! I think,Americans should be proud of having them who is considering themselves American and doing anything for their country
If you go SOME cities in ITALY,FRANCE,SWITZERLAND,AUSTRIA, mostly SWEDEN, DENMARK,RUSSIA..i would like to see you how do you feel there as a black.Specially in small towns or cities you might feel the difference .
Again this is not valid for whole Italy or France,Austria nor for Sweden. There are some people nice and friendly, there are some totally racist (those racist people are all ignorant and don’t even waste your time to think nor worry about it unless if they attack you of course
The only thing drives me crazy in this kind of situation :whattha hell this guy /woman think ,has something superior than me..We are all breathing the same weather..you know. Then i am thinking to myself :another ignorant, who cares !
Racism is not only about skin color .Specially after September 11 (i was there too…it was a horrible experience..and sad) many things changed against to Muslim people,
Talking about racism here right!
See,its not only about skin color (i’ve very fair skin with green eyes, since we are mentioning about skin color).
Despite of being from a secular country with a high populated Islam religion, for all “OTHERS”,we are all terrorist or we hate Americans or U.S. which is not true…
Don’t get me wrong,i am not happy with extremely religious people either (no matter which religion).
Some scream as “Kill non-muslims” or ready to respond with a gun (talking about radical people who is using the religion ). This is really sad ,scary and annoying as well, seeing how ignorant people are using the religion to canalize their hate ,which based on maybe having a poor background, used to grow up with hate etc.
.don’t know.
I was there ,in september 11..i witnessed to fear of people,The Fear, i also had..
i don’t know how to tell the pain i felt for the people who died there..no word can describe, believe or not…
its about being a human , to feel.No matter which religion, skin color you have ,covering your hair or not, having slanting eyes or “funny” accent to some ,praying different than others..(but to the same God,if you believe).
Its about being a human… tolerating to the difference between you and others..smiling to a little Chinese girl whose father is working really hard to do something for his family..or shaking the hand of your black friend who was joking about your different “Thoughts” without insulting..or receiving a smile back from your muslim neighbour to whom you have just said “Happy Ramadan” !
its all about “discretion” and ” tolerance” to the people different than you but who isn’t trying to abuse the peace or your tolerance..
Well said by Mevlana :
“Come, come whoever you are, however you are, just come!
I hope, one day,we all will be more tolerate and flexable to whoever isn’t like “Us”.
Rgds to Everyone,

Funny to hear about those blacks complaining about Asia being the “most” racist. The most racism I’ve experienced in America as a East Asian has been from blacks and Hispanics. I’d say 99% of the time they come in the form of racist slurs and taunts, accompanied by crude gestures and violent attitudes. As a result, I stay as far away from blacks and most Hispanics as I can.

I read down to one of Marie’s comments in December 31st, 2008 at 6:32 pm. I realize this is pretty old but I see this discussion is still active and people still read it. (I also found this website by mistake) I may have not been paying too much attention but I think I read somebody say Venezuela is a powerful country etc. Well… Trust me we don’t even see any of the money that enters the country, I am Venezuelan as well. I lived in Miami for about 10 years (I’m 16 btw) and I so very much wish to go back some day. Although I as well experienced some racism in middle school and it wasn’t from any white person… Most racist people I saw were actually black and I couldn’t understand why they felt the need to pick on somebody for being white.. I usually just didn’t socialize much and didn’t get into any trouble. Also being born in America is more than winning the lottery; my parents were forced to come back since our temporary documents expired. We left when I was very small because when the president Hugo Chavez got elected there was so much insecurity. 2 of my dad’s shops got completely robbed, a company that belongs to the government never paid him any of the money they owed him and if my dad did not pay the money he was loaned to survive he would get a bullet in his head just like you get one if you are a threat to “Socialism”.. I really had no idea how this country worked and apparently it doesn’t work very well it took me a lot of time to get use to the corruption/insecurity etc and now we are definitely experiencing some of the “Great things” our president has done (sarcasm) He begins small.. Now he wants to make all uniforms red including schools, Close everything at 9pm and nobody can be in the streets at 12 am. He devaluates our currency and wants to force businesses to not increase the price on imported goods. Forcing them to leave the country and leave us with very little commercialism. I know people whose houses were planted with bombs and luckily survived. Why? It was because they were a threat to Chavez. The water supply in my building was reduced because the government found out many of the people who lived here were from the “opposition” I even got assaulted 3 times in 1 year and trust me when you are assaulted here it is not the same as being mugged in USA they will point big guns to your face maybe even in public maybe will even force you to get in a van and kidnap you (like almost happened to me) and nobody will do anything because of fear the mafia has power over the police… I’m sorry I went a bit off topic but I really hate when people speak that way about this suppose socialism when don’t even know what’s actually going on. You are all lucky to live in America today. Even with the economic crisis it is way better. I Love the United States and I plan on living in the USA again one day you are all very very lucky.

Idopas. This “stupid” American lived in your country for many years. “Thank you” and your people for being so hospitable to me. My son was often called a “stupid American” by his peers and a teacher (for merely opening his mouth) in school and I went out of my way not to watch or read certain TV programs that would reduce my nationality to ignorant stereotypes. “Way to educate the people!” I may not come from a perfect country but I’ll take our flaws over the UK’ any day. I found your country steeped in arrogance and tradition to be stifling. Yes, we have an ugly past but let’s not forget that it was the UK along with other European countries who brought slavery and the origins of racist hatred into this country. Your country raped and exploited others on their land. I guess “out of sight, out of mind” applies to your general mentality. AND get over yourself, the NHS makes many mistakes and is far from being perfect. Concentrate on that and maybe one day you can have the same health care France has (which surpasses yours). You spend too much time obsessing over my country, fix yours! ooh, was I being “loud”? Apologies to the most repressed country I’ve stepped foot on – no wonder you binge drink.

I am Hispanic and agree with most of this comments left here.
I think in every culture and society have allot of racism regarding of the color of Your skin, background, religion or sexual Orientation one of the race that have suffer allot with racism is Black People. I think people who is racist is nothing more than just being ignorant. White people specially they think because they have a degree or a master that make you a better person than any other color of skin. I am sorry but that is just a bunch of Crap… the color of my skin is light but i respect and i see everybody as the same Humans because that’s what we are Humans. if somebody else think different they may be from another galaxy.
Please help me to educate people against racism because they need an intervention here is a link where You can leave Your Comments and thoughts…….http://twitter.com/Dankboy20

It seemed to me that you have some race issues. You tried to talk about people being racist at the same time putting down the so, call “white” people. Why even bother measuring yourselves against “white” people? What exactly are you fighting against…? Racist coming from just “whites”.
If you read some of the comments here Hispanics are very racist. Have any one in your family ever used the word “Negrito” which means “Little Niger” Translation: a black Hispanic? Yes, I know everyone will tell you that it is with love… that the Hispanic people call the Hispanic blacks “Little Niger”. What about how Hispanics describe a Japanese, a Chinese or a Korean person as “Chinito”. Translation “Chinese”. The Hispanic people laugh when they refer to an Asian person as “Chinito”. What about the jokes out laud against Jewish people “Jews” ha, ha, ha.
The Hispanics from New Mexico are of Spanish-Mexicans descend with lighter skin color. Those New Mexicans Hispanics will discriminate like anyone else against other Mexican-Indians descends.
Sorry, but your confusing the issue. Yes, if you have a college education your life is and it always be better even in bad time. Just ask the people of Haiti where 50% of the people cannot read or write. Just ask the people illegally here from Central America in the USA where the majority have not completed elementary school.
The education has nothing to do with someone believing that another person is racist (chip on their shoulder type of person). Education is a big Neutralizer. Education=Better or more qualify individual, higher paying job, better standard of living, and better life.
I do not care what the color of your skin is or if you are fat, skinny or handsome. But, sorry if someone has not work hard to better themselves via higher education or “life experience” … I will completely discourage my children from having that person being part of our family. Unless we happened to be at a church event where under the eyes of God we are all equal.
We are not all equal under normal circumstances. We were born equal but after a certain age or time it is up to you to be better than the next person. Education is the key. Someone might discriminate against you base on your socio economic status and that does not make that person a racist.
My argument against the Hispanics in the USA from Central America is that the majority of them do not value education. They do not value higher education. They walk around with a chip in their shoulder angry at “whites” and everyone else because they perceive some kind of discrimination towards them but they are not wise enough to realized that the color of the skin has nothing to do with the perceive discrimination. It has more to do with their socio economic status.
There is nothing wrong with smiling at someone, being kind to someone. Being generous and all …but, do not expect the same someone to go all out for you if you are the type that sits around and expect the world to take care of you because we are “equal”
The best ways to educate people about race just advise them to get an education plain and simple. You do not need to get a PHD or an Engineer get some kind of education or else work hard so, on the eyes of society you stand tall and then you will see that race has nothing to do with the way people treat you.
About the comment on gays… “sexual Orientation”.. Sorry, I have nothing against gays however it upset me how the gay community has been trying to bring up their issues into my living room where I have to explain to my small children “sex” and that sex should be between a man and a women. I believe that was the response our new President gave during the campaign trail in 2008.
I find that gays and now the Muslim community want everyone to view them as people that need to be given more rights and privileges than others in this country. Am I a racist or a bigot for making that comment? No, I believe that those pople are incredible arrogant for trying to impose their views in our family.
Isaac: I feel for you and your family. I hope that you do not give up in coming back to the greatest country in the planet. Also, discourage anyone that you can from supporting those ignorants in Hollywood… that support the Dictator Hugo Chavez. Our movie list is getting smaller and smaller every year. We gave up giving our money to those that trash the USA. For example: The actor Sean Penn I, believe he has a movie coming out soon. Mr. Penn just said while in Haiti that he now has great respect for the USA military??? Yes, after nearly 50 years of his life… he now realized that the USA Military is a great thing. What a joke! Mr. Penn is one of Hugo Chavez and Castro great supporters.
